Enduring Breath spell or potion(about 11 to 12pp from merchants) is a MUST for this one.
I died on my first attempt. I swam along the tunnel floor until I ran into the tower. I was very close before I saw it. A DW goblin saw thru my invis and nailed me. I made sure to hit my /loc button before I died because I wanted to try something. When retrieving your body with /corpse, the Z-axis is not taken into account. This allows you to retrieve your corpse from deep water, even when it is INSIDE an underwater tunnel!
If you have to do CR on this one, just swim to the /loc on the surface and start draggingJ It's a lot easier than swimming down that @#@%%$# tunnel naked!
On the second attempt, I invised and swam close to the tunnel ceiling. When I was near the /loc I had recorded before, I could hear DW gobs casting and knew I was over the tower, but I could not see it. I swam back to the tunnel so as not to lose my bearings and tried again. After I entered the main chamber, I let myself drift downward for a couple of seconds, not too much, just enough to be able to see the tower's top. This time I was right on target. I swam slowly to the window, conning like mad to make sure the gobs could not see me. I saw the rod on the floor between two chests, right under the far window. I swam to the back side of the tower, grabbed the rod thru the window, and swam to the surface. I could have gated of course, but Enduring Breath was still going strong, so what the heckJ
